I have a friend with serious depression and an eating disorder and being turned away or sent home after 2 weeks is not good enough.

Suicide is so tragic. We need to do everything we can to prevent it happening - which includes spending taxpayer dollars.

I have seen the inadequacies of mental health services in many countries. It's very disturbing the lack of resources that are put into this field, while the numbers of people affected continue to rise.

I've lost both my father and sister to suicide. We need better understanding and education of mental illness.

This is not just an Australia problem it is also in new Zealand. If you apparently to only self harm and know you are doing it the mental health see that you are fine as you are aware you are doing it. The point is when you are doing it you are not I have lost a few people because they got turned away and it has to stop. Good luck

Australia requires a massive overhaul in its mental health services. Too many are dying or receiving inadequate care for many different conditions. It is time for this to change
