Protest PWM flight path, seek alternative routing!
Protest PWM flight path, seek alternative routing!

Several years ago, the radar navigation routing into and out of the Portland International Jetport (PWM) to the east was changed to route flights directly over Little Diamond Island. We understand that the instrument waypoints were intended to facilitate safe arrivals and departures in adverse weather conditions. However, this routing has now become the regular flight path in all weather conditions, including clear and still weather. This is not acceptable to Island residents. We seek an alternative routing that will reduce the significant negative impact on our lives by regular, low-altitude overflights.
We also respectfully request that Jetport management firmly remind all airlines that theIr pilots are expected to rigorously adhere to the Harbor Visual route in appropriate weather conditions.
We appreciate the convenience of the Jetport and seek balance between the interests of the residents/taxpayers of Little Diamond Island and the airlines that serve the flying public.
