In the state of Florida, the majority of the population is not following CDC recommendations and wearing masks. Many people, especially members of the Ponte Vedra High School Community are eager for life to go back to normal at school with activities and classes. The fastest way for this to occur is to REQUIRE masks at school along with social distancing. The wearing of masks is the most reliable way to prevent the spread of Covid-19. As of now, masks are not required at PVHS if the school returns to Brick and Mortar in the fall. If masks are not required at Ponte Vedra, the spread of the virus will increase rapidly in our community, and activities that many high schoolers enjoy will come to an end. The biggest importance in our community and at Ponte Vedra High School is the safety and health of the students. The best way to live up to these standards is to require the wearing of masks. If every student wears a mask at school effectively, there is only approximately a 1.5% chance that the virus will spread from person to person throughout the school. The requirement of masks is so crucial to returning life back to normal as quickly and as safely as possible. I know people that have contracted Covid-19, and it really puts a stress on people's lives very quickly. People can lose their jobs over it, and fall behind in school.
