Put the "Camden's Yard" sign back up at the SKYLINE baseball field
0 have signed. Let’s get to 2,500!
In May a sign went up at the Skyline baseball field in memory of Camden Taylor who passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm in February at the age of 14. Such a tragedy for the Taylor family and community on the west side of Idaho Falls. The sign read "Welcome to SKYLINE at Camden's Yard" It made us smile. Some people in our family are Baltimore Orioles fans and the play on words "Camden's Yard" from where the O's play is Camden Yards- talk about the perfect and fitting signage!
I don't have personal ties to the family but know that Camden loved sports, played at that field (which happens to face Eagle Rock), and Coach Taylor and his kids are extremely vested in Skyline athletics.
The sign came down a few weeks later because of a parent complaint: not thinking it was proper and that other students who have passed away didn't get anything. Of the students who died in the car accident last year, Ivy has a memorial at the soccer complex in the Village & Asher has one at Melaleuca Field which is very heart warming and appropriate, so why not the sign for Camden? It's high on the backstop fence as not to block views, but serves as a small token of remembrance for the Taylor family, Camden's buddies from school, the athletes who have played for Coach, and a reminder to all the people who drive Pancheri to hug their living children a little tighter every day.
I'm sure there are others who feel the same way so my plan is to have a petition signed to present to the new Athletic Director, the School Board, Skyline Principal, whomever it needs to reach to get the sign back up.
