Every year stubble burning in northern states of Punjab and Haryana in India leads to dense smog for more than a month over the National Capital Region. Residents are breathing air which is more toxic than smoking 20 cigarettes in a day. Our children are perpetually down with nasal and chest congestion and we can do nothing but just see them suffer because of the unwillingness of the polity to solve this problem’s root cause as this would affect their biggest vote banks - the farmers. If farmers are important for the economy and country so are we the rest of the citizens of this country who are contributing equally in various capacities. As part of the 1% pool of tax payers of this highly politicised country, I demand a right to breathe clean air for myself and my children. The judiciary , the politicians, the civil servants are all responsible for this health hazard we all are living in which is eroding our quality of life as well as reducing our life expectancy and subjecting us to multiple health issues.

We demand concrete steps to be taken to stop this situation from recurring every year and LET US EXERCISE OUR RIGHT TO CLEAN AIR!
