Huntington Beach is trying to build a desalination plant, which basically takes the salt out of the ocean water so we can drink it. This plant may sound good but there are many downsides to having this plant. One of the main reasons it is wrong is because of the harm it causes to the local ecosystem. The plant puts all the extra salt into the ocean which messes up the balance and can harm humans and fish alike. Another issue about the plant is one of the main pipes goes through a chemical waste pump which can be terrible and cause poisoning to the local population of HB and more. Our goal is to get enough signatures for our issue to be brought up to the local government which can help put an end to the plant. If we win this will be beneficial to so many people and wildlife who live around HB and the plant. If we lose there could be harm done to local wildlife and then the people drinking the water from the plant due to the pipe.
