Hello, I am a Junior at Waubonsie Valley Highschool in district 204 and my goal is to get out district's schools to start later. If you do not know highschools in this district start at 7:25 AM and end at 2:25 pm. As my whole highschool career I have felt I am not fully awake and prepared to learn in my first period class. Waking up at 6:25 so I can shower and get out the house to get there on time is mentally and physically draining. When I walk in my class first period almost every student is worn down and not prepared to learn, and some are just asleep. This is unfair to students and teachers as they have to be up and at the school even earlier. These teachers also have to teach to a class full of tired and worn down students. I propose we start at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. This short buffer will not only allow students to be fully prepared to engage and learn in their first period class: it will help teachers have more time to prepare their class and wake up more themselves.
