New Smyrna is one of the most bountiful regions of marine life in the world. This ecosystem brings in legions of fishing enthusiasts and tourists to bathe in the sun awe at our sunsets. These elements also cementing many visitors to become "locals" and call the area heaven on earth. These precious natural gifts are presented to us with or without our gratitude.

Fortunately for the food and beverage industry the incoming and permanent population DEMANDS varieties of cocktails, sweet teas, and of course waters with the ever present lemon like seagulls at the beach.

Unfortunately these cups contain plastic straws. It's SIMPLE.  Hundreds and thousands make there way into our lagoons and river ways.

I personally bartended at the Outriggers Tiki bar for 4 years saw hundreds(twice an entire box of tiny cocktail straws which come 500 in count)of spill plastic tubes drift daintily past the massive sport fishing boats and set uncoursed destinations into unseen depths, heights, and nooks & crannies of every part of Nsbs waterways.

I'll keep it simple.

Join the few voices of concern into a deafing roar to let New Smyrna City Council know WE DO NOT NEED PLASTIC STRAWS ON OUR ISLAND!!!
