Residents of the Douglas Shire do not have access to regular, scheduled, affordable public transport, unlike other shires close by, and throughout the state.

Funding for public transport is a state government responsibility. This petition seeks that the Douglas Shire Council request the state government to commission a report into the socio-economic benefits of public transport both within the Douglas Shire,  and further south to Cairns.  

There should be a particular emphasis on the benefits to youth, families, the elderly, and disadvantaged people.
