Petitioning U.S. Department of Education Public Schools In America

Make our Schools Safe For Our Children

Federal, State and Local Governments took drastic protection actions after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. They took even more protective actions after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Cockpit doors were hardened, buildings implemented layered security and posted metal detectors and guards at every entrance and barriers were constructed to keep threats away from buildings.

Existing school entrances are not adequately protected. No system is in place to standardize the reporting of threats and faculty are forced to shield students with the only thing they can, their bodies.

Our children’s schools need to be hardened against attacks. Our children deserve to be protected. We are DEMANDING that Federal, State and Local leadership take action and protect our children from harm while they are at school.
