A 2009 batch IAS officer who was deputed as the Joint Commissioner, State Commercial Taxes Department, D K Ravi kumar was found mysteriously hanging by a fan in the bedroom of his private apartment in Tavarekere in South Bengaluru on Monday. Ravi’s work as Deputy Commissioner, especially action taken against sand and land mafia earned him good name among people of Kolar.
Recent raids by DK Ravi
In February, an Enforcement Directorate team lead by D Ravi had raided real estate giants like Nitesh Estates Private Ltd, other companies like Rajesh Exports Ltd (REL) and the outlets of its retail arm, Shubh Jewellers, Ravi had collected more than Rs 100 crore in outstanding tax dues from these raids in last 4 months.
It is very clear that there would absolutely no motive for officer like Ravi to take this extreme step. We are unable to believe that someone like him can commit suicide. It is said that three unidentified people met Ravi during the day at his apartment. (A media report)
Lets us together raise our voice against this; Let us urge the state government to hand over the case to CBI for the further investigation. The culprits should be arrested at the earliest.
Lets us urge the central government to interfere in the case and make sure the justice is not denied.
