As of 2020, a new dress code was installed at PHS. Skimming through the dress code, it becomes very obvious that it is mainly targeting young women and feminine clothing. Shoulders become provocative, collarbones become provocative, etc. It's time we stop sexualizing women for simply yearning to express themselves. Our dress code is designed for the comfortability of men and defeats the whole purpose of a dress code. Instead of limiting what women wear, limit teaching young men that women are meant to adjust for their inappropriate thoughts. I walk through the halls and see at least 20 boys a day with no sleeves or even shirtless and I've yet to meet one who has been dress coded for it. The student body of PHS will no longer tolerate discriminatory behavior. Ultimately, just because a girl wears something she enjoys, does not mean she's looking for attention or harassment. Our self-expression is NOT the distraction nor the problem.
