Province of Ontario: Relieve Ontario's businesses and commercial property owners from discriminatory Property Tax rates

Let's Support Ontario Business

Inasmuch as the Provincial Property Tax (sometimes known as the Business Education Tax) is the most inequitable tax in the country, with varying discriminatory tax rates across the Province;

And inasmuch as the 2007 Ontario  Budget promised to bring the highest rates down to a ceiling of 1.6% (based on the then current levels of assessment), no later than 2014;

And inasmuch as reducing the tax to the promised level across the Province, as previously scheduled, would delay elimination of the provincial deficit by only 5 weeks;

And inasmuch as a more equitable tax will provide significant relief to the provincial business sector and will assist many small businesses to thrive and contribute to employment:

We,  the undersigned, business people and residents who support our local merchants, ask the elected officials of the Province of Ontario to re-instate the tax reduction  program in the 2014 budget.
