For over 30 years, Sun Lakes Country Club has provided world class amenities and activities for our over 55 community. We however have fallen behind other fine senior communities by failing to provide dog parks for our 4-legged friends. We estimate a minimum of 70% of our residents have dogs as pets. Having one or more dog parks in convenient locations would help residents who cannot walk their dogs to have a safe place to allow their pets to exercise, socialize and play. Dog parks provide venues to bring pet owners together, building good will in our community.  They reduce the incidence of dog waste left on our neighbors’ lawn. They add to our home values to prospective new residents who have pets.  The Dog Owners’ Group has requested dog parks over a year ago, and many individual owners have asked the same for decades. The Board of Sun Lakes has always refused or “tabled” our requests. It’s time to demonstrate the numbers of residents who believe that it is past time to provide beautiful, safe dog parks for our beautiful community.
