The Divisive Concepts law was signed by Governor Chris Sununu in June of 2021 and effectively "prohibits schools from teaching that one group of people is inherently racist, superior, or inferior to people of another group" (Timmins). Furthermore, New Hampshire Bulletin says that the " Attorney General’s Office did not say how or whether implicit bias – which is at the center of many cases of discrimination – can be included in discussions" (Timmins). This is just one of many confusions with this new law.

Next, The Teacher Loyalty bill is a bill that was voted down this March, but will in the future be up for vote again (Finnerman). This bill states that teachers would be unable to "advocate for communism, socialism, or Marxism ...... [or] advocate any doctrine or theory promoting a negative account or representation of the founding and history of the United States of America in New Hampshire public schools...Such prohibition includes but is not limited to teaching that the United States was founded on racism" (NH State). If passed this bill could seriously limit the education students receive and would bias the entire education system. If students are not able to talk about matters as serious as these they will become even more biased.

All in all, these legislations need to be protested because they limit the perspectives and views shown to students and skew their worldview.
