The NYS Department of Labor is attacking Freelancers who received Pandemic Unemployment Assistance by demanding additional proof of eligibility two years after the disbursement of funds!  This act is a  dangerous threat to our livelihoods as we struggle through these challenging times.  NYS is threatening a 15% penalty on mistaken overpayments at their discretion. The DOL gave millions to CEOs of corporations, who then fired hundreds of employees. They are threatening independent workers and small business owners to try and compensate for their gross negligence. They will garnish wages, take money from our bank accounts, and destroy our credit scores. NYS is shamelessly and recklessly hammering the last nail into the independent worker's financial coffin. Governor Hochul has the authority to waive these cruel clawbacks, but she needs our motivation. She is up for re-election this year. Let's send a strong, unified message that she needs to stand up for the working class, and waive these outrageous clawbacks, so we can rebuild our businesses and our lives!
