SAVE BASFORD NURSERY CAMPAIGN – Protest at Basford Hall Campus, Stockhill Lane 3:45pm Wed 18th July 2018

Come along to protest outside the Governors Meeting!  3:45pm Wed 18th July at Stockhill Lane, Basford Campus.  Help the parents, MP Alex Norris and local Cllrs stop the closure of Basford Hall College Nursery for our kids! Parents and staff have had fantastic support from Nottingham North residents and the whole of Nottingham in general. The nursery provides crucial childcare for students and staff while they learn and teach and its closure would be a massive loss for the community. The college is still holding consultation meetings but are planning to go ahead with the closure.  Can you add your voice and help the mums keep the nursery open?

SAVE BASFORD NURSERY CAMPAIGN – Protest at Basford Hall Campus, Stockhill Lane 3:45pm Wed 18th July 2018

Thank you to Alex Norris MP for Nottingham North and all the Local Cllrs that are helping with our campaign.

Once Upon a Time in Nursery, Basford Campus, Nottingham College
It came has a massive shock when on Tuesday morning I went to drop my daughter off and I was informed that the Nursery will close down on 26th July 2018. The staff had no previous warning and they just found out in a 2 hour meeting that they will lose their jobs and our children will have to find another nursery.
We are talking about nearly 70 children involved, together with their families and all the staff from nursery that were taken by surprise.
This is a lovely nursery, all the staff work very hard, are very responsible and professional and I know the children are very happy there at the Basford Campus Nursery.
How can it be possible to close down a nursery that's been successfully serving the community for more than 20 years? What are all the people who work there are going to do? Is there enough nursery provision locally to cope with this nursery closing down?  All the other nurseries locally are full.  The staff and parents are very sad and disappointed.

Nursery staff are very worried, they've got children to feed, bills to pay and responsibilities. Some staff have been working there for more than 20 years, dedicating themselves to our children, looking after them while we go to work, study or get on with our busy lives.  What happened to the college's commitment to 'every child matters'?  Our kids and our community deserves better, much better.

Student-mums can currently study and get to class on-time by having a nursery at the college campus.  Some of these mums are part of the JAMs - Just about managing and they need the nursery for their youngsters.  Why are services being cut that help women who want to study, prosper and better their lives?

We're asking for some help to spread the word to our community, to let them know that closing down this wonderful nursery is not right and to see if we can change anything. Please sign this petition and help to keep open our nursery.  Once Upon a Time  Nursery, Basford Campus, Nottingham College
Many thanks,
