Protecting Children by Restricting Advertising

Children spend a total of eleven hours a day consuming magazines, music, internet, television and movies. This causes irreparable psychological damage that is only reinforced by the continued bombardment of the media in public spaces. The United States is one of the few developed nations that does nothing to protect children from this harm.

We need:
The restriction of advertising to children under the age of 12 through the creation of an Advertising Standard Authority to work with the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission that will: Regulate the hypersexualized imagery that mainstream media promotes in print and on air.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Michelle Obama, The FCC & FTC.

Dear Mrs. Obama, and Members of the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission,

re: Restrict Advertising to Children

Children spend a total of eleven hours a day consuming magazines, music, internet, television and movies. This causes irreparable psychological damage that is only reinforced by the continued bombardment of the media in public spaces. The United States is one of the few developed nations that does nothing to protect children from this harm.
Every child has the right to grow up without being subjected to early sexualization.

We need:
The restriction of advertising to children under the age of 12 through the creation of an Advertising Standard Authority to work with the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission that will: Regulate the hypersexualized imagery that mainstream media promotes in print and on air.

Sincerely,
