Cleaning products can harm women's lungs as much as smoking 20 cigarettes a day. That's what research at the University of Bergen has found.
Scientists there tested 6,235 women's and men's lungs over 20 years and found that women who used cleaning products had an "accelerated" decline in lung capacity. The scientists recommended different ways of using cleaning products to reduce the risks.
This petition calls for an immediate warning of health risks to be included on containers of cleaning products - a simple measure that could be introduced immediately by the industry. And it calls for government to introduce regulations for production of cleaning products sold in the UK to reduce the health risks.
