The Lacey Act is a 100 year old law that exists to stop the importation of illegal products into the United States. Originally the Act only applied to things like orchids and butterflies. However, the Bush administration with broad Republican and Democratic support, decided to strengthen the law to prevent illegal timber from being imported into the US because they realized that cheap, illegally logged wood was hurting American businesses.

Since 2008, the Lacey Act has been instrumental in saving forests and protecting the endangered species that call them home from illegal logging. Just recently, the US government was presented with an award from the UN for its environmental leadership when it amended the Act to cover illegal timber. It’s considered by many to be one of the most important environmental laws in decades and it’s one of the best tools we have to protect forests.

I am signing the petition because it is not just the harm caused to the Rain Forest; the issue is greater in the harm that is caused to our climate that is being caused by the spraying of chemical trails known as chem-trails in our air. The contents of these many chem-trails have been test from city to city in our United States have proven to affect our weather, our health, kill birds, kill farmed fields, and fish. As citizens we need to be more aware of the actions of our Senate and House Committees who have continued to sign secret budgets into the trillions to allow the testing of chemicals developed for war and to test the affects of other biological chemicals (germs) on its own citizens for years. DOD Directive 5240.1-R and 4240.1-R (directives not laws) have allowed for the illegal testing on populations and it is increasing. Please also consider signing the following petition to send a message to our Senate and House to stop these dangerous authorizations now.
Unlawful Non-Consensual Weapons Testing on Civilians and Military Personnel Must Stop

The Lacey Act protects both American business AND species under threat. Just because it is a piece of regulation does not automatically make it "bad". Repealing the Lacey Act will do no good for no one and the lies about its purpose need to stop immediately!

Not protecting important environmental laws will not sustain the USA.
