Schomberg is a wonderful community, with a rich heritage and a wide variety of architectural building styles. Marg Coburn's house at 66 Main St. is a unique building in Schomberg. Built in 1903, it's a three-story brick building in an eclectic style, standing behind a row of majestic Sugar Maple trees. We believe that this building contributes to the history and heritage character of Schomberg.
The current owners of the property have proposed that they demolish this building along with the trees out front, and replace it with a 32 unit townhouse condominium complex. To do this they require a demolition permit and a zoning change on the property from Single Family Residential to Medium Density.
Good development doesn't mean that what exists has to be demolished.
We the undersigned ask that the heritage home at 66 Main Street and the associated streetscape not be demolished, but be protected through the development process.
