Petition updateProtect our public beach propertyLand Use Amendment request will now go to Broward County
Concerned Resident In HollywoodFL, United States
Dec 18, 2025

We need your help in asking Broward County to DENY the land use amendment for 1301 S Ocean Drive on Hollywood Beach!

On Dec 10, 5 of Hollywood’s 7 city commission members voted to go against the recommendation of their own Planning & Development Board and approved the 1301 land use amendment. The city’s land use amendment vote will now go to Broward County. It will first go to the County’s Planning Council and then to the full County Commission.

Voted YES to convert public community space to medium-high residential: Hernandez, Biederman, Levy, Callari, Gruber

Accepted Planning and Development Board's recommendation to deny and voted NO: Shuham and Quintana (THANK YOU!)

What we hope for now (and what we need your help with) is asking the Broward Planning Council to recommend a rejection of the land use amendment. Ask them to vote NO on a land use change. Keep 1301 S Ocean Drive public community open space. No private condo towers on this public land in hurricane evacuation zone A. We can remodel this property WITHOUT a condo tower, and there will be even more room for a beautiful public space without a tower in the way.

If you live in Broward County, it’s helpful if you can state what city you live in when you email the county. It would be great for the Planning Council to see residents from all over Broward County helping to oppose this land use change.
Thank you!
