I am a parent within the district. The BRCS school along with many others have been significantly impacted by the Covid-19- virus in recent weeks. The districts and government for that matter are trying to be as discreet as possible. There isn’t transparency from the school, health department, or many others we entrust our children’s health and safety to in this matter.  Many families are being affected by multiple quarantines and back to back quarantines. The exposures are within the school day, and several students have had multiple exposures to different sources. The schools have become very laxed to support an agenda of in person learning. In -person maybe the “best” option. However, at what cost? These students are bringing this home to their families; which could have underlying issue. The students themselves could have underlying issues, and as parents we have no options. The state may be the ones giving the “guidelines and advice” to districts, however the district has a responsibility to protect the health and safety of the students and staff members. The district is currently failing. The masks are a must within the school building, and social distancing when possible. However, multiple students are crammed into the lecture halls for study halls, into cafeterias and larger classroom sizes to make social distancing very difficult or not possible. The state took the virtual options from parents, however that leaves it 100 percent the school districts “RESPONSIBILITY” to protect the health and safety of our children enrolled in the public school system. The district administrators and school board are failing to act on the numbers and current endangerment to our children and families. It is time we the parents, families,  and community that elect the board members into their positions take a stand. Stand up for our children and families safety. Yes, I feel virtual should be an option. It would allow for social distancing options, and families who know their circumstances to make the choice best for the families. That is an option, that doesn’t work for everyone( so should be that just an option). However, not my point. My point is the BRCS district needs to protect our children! Up the safety precautions again. Look at the numbers from last year to now. Clearly, they worked much better. Close the district to virtual for a full two weeks to deep clean, and prepare for the return of our students. Put more effort into social distancing 3 ft min, preferred 6 ft., not mixing cohorts, and other distancing measures.  Give our students, families, and community a chance to heal! Please let your voices be heard. Take a stand and push for the ELECTED board members and PAID administrators who are suppose to work for the BRCS communites best interest to do just that! Put the health and safety of our students, staff, and families as a NUMBER 1 PRIORITY! Place actions with the words! Make your voice be heard.
