The current State law allows School Districts to investigate themselves when there is a reported case of abuse from a teacher or employee. The proposed amendment will require that all allegations of abuse will be investigated in the same manner regardless of the person or entity against whom the allegations have been raised against. The amendment will help to alleviate the conflict of interest created when School Districts conduct investigations on employees.

Change the current State law 160.261 and protect MO children from abuse at school. The current State law allows School Districts to investigate themselves when there is a reported case of abuse from a teacher or employee. An amendment to this law will help alleviate the conflict of interest created when School Districts are allowed to conduct investigations of abuse internally on employees.
