Support California AB 1578 - NO COLLABORATION with Federal Marijuana Raids!

Twenty-six states and the District of Columbia currently have laws broadly legalizing marijuana in some form. Three other states will soon join them after recently passing measures permitting use of medical cannabis.

Unfortunately, Trump administration Attorney General Jeff Sessions is no friend of legal cannabis and has threatened to take action against states, citizens, and dispensaries where marijuana is now legal.

Because of the threat of federal action against dispensaries and citizens in states where MMJ and recreational pot are legal, Democracy Resources is supporting legislation that will prevent local and state law enforcement agencies from cooperating with federal drug agencies or assisting in any way with federal enforcement actions against state-authorized cannabis activity.

In California, Assembly Bill 1578 has recently cleared a committee vote. AB 1578 offers common sense policy that protects legal businesses and Californians operating within the law. It was authored by Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-Los Angeles).

It is crucial that this bill or similar bills pass not only in California, but in all states who have legalized or decriminalized recreational and medical marijuana.

Democracy Resources is calling on the California legislature to put AB 1578 to a full floor vote to protect Californians who are operating lawfully under California cannabis laws. This is the first step toward pushing other states to pass similar legislation.
