Despite being a bird on the red list of concern, the delightful House Martin that nests in such close proximity to humans, so much so they are named after our dwellings, is not protected fully by the law.

Their nest sites can be destroyed in their absence after migrating to Africa, a hazardous journey of thousands of miles and we need to upgrade their level of protection in law so their nests are still the for them when they return to our shores.
