Why this petition matters

Diversity Day for juniors and seniors had been running for six years, and is aimed at educating students about inclusiveness and cultural differences. This year, Diversity Day has been cancelled with a 4-0 vote by the FHSD board members.

At one of the FHSD middle schools, a pride mural stands out in one of the the stairwells. Symbols of inclusivity are painted onto hands-of different races-surrounded by many different pride flags-Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Islam, Atheist, and Buddhist symbols; as well as lesbian, pan sexual, trans, bisexual, non-binary, and the overarching rainbow pride flags. It is beloved by the students there, however the school board wants to remove it.

It is clear that the school board is out of line with what they are trying to do, and it just can’t be ignored.
