Proposed High Density Housing Coming to Hondo

Proposed High Density Housing Coming to Hondo
TOWN HALL MEETING
MARCH 31ST @ 6:00 PM
MEDINA COUNTY FAIR HALL
PUBLIC OPPOSITION IS OUR BEST DEFENSE
A developer has proposed building up to 913 lots/high-density houses just north of Kollman Oaks directly next to Lone Oak on FM 462. This affects everyone!
We feel this type of enormous, rapid growth could cause negative problems for all members of our community, as well as surrounding towns.
AREAS OF CONCERN
·Serious traffic congestion and SAFETY
·Schools may become overcrowded and underserved
More schools = INCREASE IN TAXES
·WATER!! Is there enough?
·POLLUTION! Can Hondo even handle the increase of waste water discharge?
·Water Run-Off - Lone Oak residents are already affected by heavy rains
·Grocery stores and food supply
·Potential DECREASE in property value
·DEMAND of police, fire, hospital, and community workers
·Statistics show increased population = INCREASED CRIME RATE
We all know that growth in our community can be positive, but we feel Hondo is not set up to grow this fast! This development alone could increase our population 30-40% or more! In our opinion, a very small group of people will be profiting from this project with little, if any benefit to the rest of the community.
