Tell Ontario MPPs to vote against the dictatorial notwithstanding clause

Urge Progressive Conservative Ontario MPPs to stand up for the rights of Torontonians and against actions worthy of a dictatorship. Tell them to vote against the Premier this Wednesday.

Justice Edward Belobaba of the Ontario Superior Court ruled today that Doug Ford's Conservative's move to halve the size of the Toronto council during the election period was unconstitutional.

Doug Ford says he will use the notwithstanding clause of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, never before invoked in Ontario, to go ahead with his plan to cut city council down to 25 wards from 47 during an election.  The plan to cut the size of Toronto City Council was not part of the party platform, it was not mentioned by the Premier in his campaign, and yet he wants the Progressive Conservative Members of Parliament to support him in this unconstitutional move to deny Torontonians their rights.  Tell Conservatives not to let this happen and to vote against the Premier in two days time.

This petition will be received by Caroline Mulroney, Attorney General and Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
