When 2014 Master of Teaching students enrolled, they were provided information to the effect that they would be eligible to take an early exit option upon completion of the required practicum and Diploma units. This would enable students to apply for VIT registration and complete CRT or other teaching work whilst undertaking the final two depth stream units to graduate with the Master of Teaching course.
It has recently come to light that only students enrolled prior to 2013 and some 2014 enrolled Berwick students will now be eligible for this option.
According to the VIT, the prerequisites for registration remain the same - evidence of a three year Undergraduate degree and a one year Graduate Diploma of Teaching. There is no reason that Master of Teaching students who enrolled in 2014 should not be allowed to take an early exit option and continue their studies to gain a Master of Teaching qualification.
Professor John Loughran, we are petitioning you to allow Master of Teaching students who enrolled in the course in 2014 to take the early exit option and continue completing the depth stream units in Semester 2, 2015.
