I am signing this petition because I have a son with a learning disability who was neglected within the dental service who were seeing him every three months and had teeth taken out by a surgeon without his consent. I am a registered nurse but unfortunately have had experience of doctors in the NHS who feel these patients are second class citizens. We must increase our learning disability nurses in the hospitals and the community not only to care for these patients, but also to educated other staff that patients with learning disabilities have the same rights and need the same protection as any other human being within the health service.

Why would you need fewer lecturers? Are there fewer people with LD?

The most vulnerable people in our society deserve the quality of care/support from profesionals with best expertise as received by the general population. This can't be delivered by cutting corners in Learning Disabilities Nurses Training.
