Tishana Harrison started this petition to Professor Densil A. Williams

On October 6, 2021, the University of the West Indies informed students that for the Academic Year 2021/22 Semester 1, final exams will be done face-to-face due to "high levels of cheating". However, this cannot be so due to the health concerns relating to the current fight against the covid virus.

The students of the University of the West Indies are hard working and dedicating students who work extremely hard for their grade(s) and as such, it is selfish of the University to put students health at risk because the pass rate has increase.

We submit our assignments ONLINE through a plagarism app, we get a time limit to answer questions, if the exam is multiple choice (appox one and a half minute per question). WE WORK HARD!! WE LITERALLY READ FOR OUR DEGREE!!!!

Since classes cannot be held face-to-face, then Exams should NOT be face-to-face!

We are being forced to put our health on the back bench to sit an exam, and if we choose not to, we are being forced to defer sitting our exams until the following year....does one know when this pandemic will end?  UWI, Mona...you have only 5 examination sites...This is INADEQUATE!!

We are also being asked to pay Jm$5,500 - $9,500 per week for accommodation if housing is required to sit our exams. So not only are we to put our health at risk, we are also being asked to pay to take that risk!  Additionally, how are the Student who have returned home to their respective countries overseas will sit a face to face exam????

They say our safety is of paramount importance... But it is really? because the last time I checked, there was NO student consultation!!! talk about dictatorship!

SAY NO TO FACE-TO-FACE EXAMINATIONS
