Reimburse Queen Mary University students for the weeks missed due to Strikes and COVID-19.

This petition has been started for Queen Mary students, due to a disappointing and ineffective government response to the recent petition to "Reimburse all students of this year’s fees due to strikes and COVID-19". The government petition was signed by over 300,000 students and even after a UK Parliament Coronavirus E-Debate, many questions and concerns have still gone unanswered.

Queen Mary students have been heavily affected by strike action. For example, the QMUL School of English and Drama students have missed 6 weeks of this academic year due to the strikes. The COVID-19 pandemic has interrupted our education and is causing many more weeks to be missed. We have had approximately 14 weeks of university in total this year. The rest has been lost to Strikes and COVID-19.

As students, we do not feel as though we are receiving the same quality of teaching as in-person classes before the COVID-19 Pandemic. We appreciate all efforts made by teachers to facilitate online learning, however it just simply isn't equal to the quality of teaching delivered on campus.

We do not believe that the education we have received this year is proportional to the £9,250/£18,000 fees we are paying as UK/EU and International students.

The students also wish to have the following questions answered:

What is the portion of tuition fees corresponding to non-teaching and facility costs and where is this currently being spent? Why are students not being reimbursed when we have no access to Queen Mary facilities?
