The coastal walkway at Holetown, Barbados, is popular and much used. There is one major flaw that prevents it being used fully and that can even make using it dangerous. After it goes in front of the Beach House going south it is supposed to go down onto the beach in front of the old Chefette property. Instead it goes straight into a pile of boulders. Passing this on the seaside requires climbing over the boulders and wading through the rocky water. Passing on the land side means climbing up onto private property and going along a narrow path with many obstacles including exposed edges of galvanised sheeting. For more details and visuals see https://youtu.be/ERl5vnfmqfE

This current situation is not the original walkway design. The boulders were in the sea to the right and were moved to their current location to 'protect the Chefette property'. This is a dangerous situation, people have been hurt trying to pass. It is also not conducive to the use of the coast and adjacent businesses by visitors and locals. It makes Barbados look bad.

Recognizing the difficult current economic situation in Barbados, we are still of the view that this is a matter that requires urgent attention.
