Tiffany Andes started this petition to Oak Spirit Sanctuary Board of Directors

Three years ago the Oak Spirit Sanctuary Community took a survey and one of the main requests that resulted from this survey is a request for more transparency from the Board of Directors (BOD) about day-to-day operations, policies, and procedures. The Community of Oak Spirit Sanctuary has not seen the transparency that we asked for, in that the BOD continues to hold discussions and make large-scale decisions without the input of the Community.

Therefore, we in the Community are petitioning that the Oak Spirit Sanctuary BOD agrees to draft and approve a document outlining the ethics, policies, and procedures that the Board functions under, and make this document public to the Community.

This document should include, but is not limited to:

How the Community should report and how the Board resolves issues of sexual harassment and abuse.

How the Board and Advisory Board handle disputes if one is raised against a Board Member or Advisory Board Member.

How are Board members approved and how long are their term limits.

What is the grievance policy and how are issues resolved using the policy.

What are the ethical standards the Board and the Community agree to follow, and what are the repercussions if those standards are violated.

We request this in earnest for the betterment of the Community, and to hold to a standard that everyone has access to and can see. We believe the current grievance policy is fallible and too dependent upon the individual feelings or whims of the BOD at large. The Natural Laws are ambiguous and not comprehensive enough to encompass all the needs of our changing world. And there is currently no documented standard to hold our leadership to if they are not performing their duties with the needs of the Community in mind, and no way to remove a Board member if they are failing.

This is what the Community is requesting in order to rebuild the trust between us and our leadership.
