The War in Europe has impacted individuals around the globe, including North America. According to Wall Street Journal, the United States imported about 672,000 barrels of oil from Russia per day in 2021 (WSJ). With Russia being the world's second largest oil producer, next to the United States, this is helping fund Putin's unprovoked war against Ukraine and hurting American's wallets. The US Energy Information Administration (an independent department of the United States government) states that the United States produced 18.375 million barrels per day in 2020 with American  consumption averaging about 18.186 million barrels per day (EIA). Why should Americans pay higher prices for oil when we have more than enough produced here in America? 

This petition demands the American government take immediate action on the following: 

• Immediately cease American tax dollars spent on Russian oil. 
• Prioritize American produced oil to satisfy American consumption first before any oil is exported outside of the United States.
