Print The Hendrix Class of 2020’s Yearbooks
Why this petition matters
The Hendrix Class of 2020 faced adverse circumstances during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. From all on-campus residents being evicted to graduation being postponed, this was truly a year full of fear and uncertainty. Nevertheless, the one thing that was certain in our minds was the knowledge that one day we would receive the memories of our senior year in the form of a 2020 yearbook.
Prior to graduation, the class was told yearbooks would be available at a later date. After a considerable amount of time, I emailed The Troubadour for an update. Here are those correspondences over the past two years in the form of emails and messages on Instagram.

Subject: 2020 Yearbook
Hi,
I am a graduate of the class of 2020. I know things became really crazy with covid, but I was wondering if we would be receiving our senior yearbooks. I just haven't heard anything about it since before graduation, so I thought it would be best to send an email.
Thanks,
Sid McGough

Hi--
COVID-19 has severely set us back with finishing the book. Rest assured, you will be contacted once they're available. Once they're ready you can either pay for the shipping or request to pick up a copy on campus.
Best,
The Troubadour Staff
@hdxtroubadour did the class of 2020's yearbooks ever get made?? I was told we'd be able to have them shipped to us when they were available or we could pick them up. It's been about 6 months since I've heard anything.
hdxtroubadour @sidney_mcg The
pandemic unfortunately set back
deadlines with the printers, so we are
working on getting it ready for shipping as
soon as possible!

Re: 2020 Yearbook
Hey Troubadour Staff!
I was just wondering if there was any update on
the yearbook for Class of 2020.
Thanks,

This is the final message I received over Instagram.
Hi Sid! So, unfortunately with COVID the 2020 staff was unable to produce a yearbook. They missed the deadlines with our printers and
did not have enough content to fill the book,
I am so sorry. If you would like a 2019 book, I am happy to mail one to you!
After discussing with my classmates, I was informed by a previous Hendrix Troubadour member that the yearbooks were in fact finished and turned in.
I am proposing that the yearbooks cannot go from “getting it ready for shipping as soon a possible” to they “did not have enough content to fill the book”.
Therefore I and my fellow alumni feel if Hendrix College truly does wish to recognize our educational achievements during an unprecedented period in our world then they should honor that commitment by printing and shipping our 2020 yearbooks.
