As the weather is getting worse and worse and the windows must be kept open due to covid guidelines, all of us students are extremely cold sitting in classes all day. We understand that there is a school jacket however, the jacket provided very little heat and is not waterproof. We are not asking for much by asking to be allowed wear our own jackets, all we want is to be allowed wear a plain black jacket that almost all students have already. This saves the large price that comes with the school jacket also. Us students are aware that we have been asked to layer up underneath our school uniform and we have been doing so such as wearing multiple tops under our jumpers wearing shorts under our kilts and multiple pairs of socks. This is still not providing us with the warmth that we need. We wouldn’t have to take all these measures if we were allowed to wear our own jackets. Warmth is also essential in keeping healthy as it decreases our chances of getting colds and flu’s etc. which is very important in the current circumstances. All of us scoil dara students are asking to take our opinions into consideration and we feel as if we are being very fair by asking to wear a plain black jacket to school.
