Postponement of or Shifting to Online Mode of FYJC Terminal Examinations in BMCC, Pune
Why this petition matters
The BMCC College has scheduled Terminal Examinations for its FYJC Students from 6th January 2022. But with rising number of COVID-19 cases in Pune City, students and parents are afraid on the consequences of students attending offline exams. This Petition aims to help convey the students' and their parents' concerns till the decision making authorities of the College.
It was observed by the students that NO measures of Social Distancing and Thermal Screening were taken by the college. Also minimal attention was given by the college staff to whether or not Students were wearing masks or sanitizing themselves. With this history of the College's "Measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19", it is just too questionable that what guarantee of their health do students have against the Chinese virus if they attend the exams.
Furthermore the COVID vaccination dates for the above mentioned students' age group coincide with the examination dates. This is putting the students into a dilemma as to whether or not to take the vaccine. As, the side effects of the vaccine are observed for 1-2 days after taking the vaccine, the students are confused by the thought of needing to miss the exams to take the vaccine, which is definitely not good.
Also there are rumors of COVID-19 Patients being found in some FYJC Students and Faculty. This is very alarming and shocking at the same time.
With the exploding numbers of the Omicron variant, it unreasonable for the college to hold offline Examinations and risk lives of hundreds of students.
Some of the students come from Outside of Pune and their Parents are calling them back to their homes, bring concerned over the unprecedented rise of the number of COVID-19 Patients.
Most of the students of the college use public transport to reach to the college from their home, this is also a factor that the concerned authorities should keep in mind while making the decision.
This Petition aims to help convey the students' and their parents' concerns till the decision making authorities of the College.
