Longer Lunch
Longer Lunch
Following a year and a half of virtual learning, Ridgefield Memorial High School decided on an addition of a new program called “Habitudes.” This program has sparked controversy among the graduating class of 2022 as our lunchtime has drastically reduced. We are also being forced to participate in a program that questions our personal life outside of school, which many find sensitive.
Participation in this program should be optional to all students, but especially the senior class. We have patiently waited three years to finally have the privilege of going out for a lengthy and relaxed lunch to get this opportunity taken away.
In the little time that we are provided, we have found that it is not easy to get our cars, reach our destinations, pick up food, eat, and safely drive back to school-at the same time, trying not to be late for class.
As a class, we are demanding a change. Therefore, we are circulating a petition asking all seniors to protest the shortened lunch period and or the elimination of the Habitudes program. As one student stated, “this is too much: Habitudes, wellness meetings, and morning meditations.”
