Port Sorell Primary School boundary fence

Port Sorell Primary School boundary fence
This petition is to ask the Tasmanian State Government to fund a boundary fence for Port Sorell Primary School.
My daughter has started prep at PSPS today and I am concerned about several risks associated with the lack of a boundary fence. These include:
*The school has numerous access and egress points which make it very easy for students to wander away from the school grounds.
*The school also has a large park( Pitcairn Park) on one boundary where students are able to wander. This could lead to possible contact with wildlife such as snakes and stray dogs. Also risks from falling trees and suspect members of the public.
*The younger students are also vulnerable with regards to the car park and bus route not fenced and the main road of Port Sorell also accessible.
*Easy walking access to the beach and drowning risk.
*Inability to monitor adults wandering through the school grounds in respect to Covid guidelines and suspect members of the public.
There is evidence of parents sending their children out of the Port Sorell area because of the lack of fencing of the school grounds. When I raised my concerns with the School Association last year, the response was that it ‘was not an issue’.
We should not wait until an incident occurs before taking action! Multiple risks are obvious, so let’s ameliorate them with an easy fix! Build a Fence!!!
