In a recent notification dated on 24/03/2018 the Karnataka State Forest Department has invited applications from the eligible candidates to fill 73 vacant posts of Range Forest Officer (RFO). (RFO Notification). Out of 73 posts 51 are for B.Sc Forestry candidates. The eligibility criteria states that Candidates who have studied any of the 2 following subjects in their B.Sc can apply for the post.
Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Bio Chemistry.
Some of the universities are offering Geology, Earth Science and Resource Management and Environmental Science in B.Sc level. Candidates with Environmental Science as core subjects study various aspects of Environment, Biodiversity ,Ecology,Forest and Wildlife Conservation etc. The Geology and Earth Science and Resource Management candidates study about Soil, Hydrogeology,Natural Resource Management, Disaster Management, Landscape Conservation etc. not only theoretically but also practically.
I request the concerned authorities to consider the 3 following subjects Geology, Earth Science and Resource Management, Environmental Science for the eligibility criteria in the interest of forest conservation and the candidates.
