Sonepur fair is an ancient cattle fair held annually in the state of Bihar.

However it is not just cattle which is traded at Sonepur. Many forms of wildlife, like parakeets, primates (Monkeys and Langurs) etc. is sold openly at this fair. State government and wildlife officials know fully well that this sale is illegal and a brazen violation of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. However it still allows this crime to flourish. Seeing no other means to stop this gross violation of our constitution and untold cruelty to innocent animals I resort to this petition to make the government act.
