Journalism matters now more than ever before. We deserve access to this invaluable curriculum so we can learn the aspects of journalism and write for our Rialto High School community. Some of us want to pursue careers in the field of journalism while others have a profound passion for writing.

Teachers are always encouraging us to write and to find something we value, something that makes us happy and gives us the opportunity to be ourselves and put our skills to use. For many of us, this is it. Journalism. The art of gathering news, talking to our peers and mentors, looking for stories all around us, meeting new people, exploring new things, ruminating ideas, brainstorming headlines, capturing photos, entertaining our audience, engaging in fun, controversial, and intelligent conversations about the things that truly matter to us and those around us. Many of us do not know the difference between a news story and an opinion story. Many of us do not know how to spot misinformation or how to verify facts.

We need access to this curriculum because it matters more now than ever. We WANT to LEARN. We WANT to WRITE! We want to look back as adults at the class that made us Reporters, Researchers, Photographers, Editors --- JOURNALISTS.
