Bring Back Hoco Dance

Bring Back Hoco Dance
After losing the formal homecoming dance due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, we lost the formal homecoming dance this school year (2021). After dealing with the pandemic and anticipating a normal school year, we the student body were informed that the homecoming dance we knew and loved was being altered into a way many of us did not want. Not to mention the poor planning for this “informal dance”. This dance started during the homecoming game which meant that football players, marching band members, cheerleaders, students in the student section, and other students attending the game were unable to attend as long the other people in the SJHS student body were able to attend. If funding is the issue that may be understood, however, it was so disappointing for seniors like myself to have only two of the four homecoming dances. While we cannot fix the past, we can change the future. I would like for each student in the underclassmen and eighth grade years to at least have every ability in their home school that I did my freshmen and sophomore years. I have multitudes of memories of getting ready with friends, dress shopping, and dancing the night away with people I love. I think bringing back the formal homecoming dance would be a great start in getting the school back to normal after a long and hard past two years.
