Since the start of the pandemic, the Free B bus has been out of service. It has been over a year and while the other town buses have started up again, this bus has not been reinstated. The Free B bus is vital for everyone in the community, but especially community members of color, low income neighbors, those who are disabled, and young kids or others without a car that need to get around town.

This bus was the only way for many neighbors to get to important places, like the grocery store, laundromat, and pharmacy. It is the only way for many folks to get farther into town and patronize local restaurants and businesses. It is the only way for many to gain access to the library and wifi, the emergency cooling & heating centers, and senior recreation events. Because of transportation issues, these valuable resources aren’t accessible to those who would like to participate.

Not only does the Free B bus need to come back, it should be improved in some important ways. We are asking for an expanded route so that community members can have more choices for grocery shopping and access to the hospital. The drivers should be friendly and respectful so that it is a positive experience. And we expect to have longer hours, at least until 10pm for folks trying to access the hospital, library, restaurants, or those who work longer hours.

Everyone in our community deserves to live in dignity, to be able to travel around their community freely, and to access vital town resources. We demand the return and improvement of the Princeton Free B Bus.
