Princeton students and alumni are charged to work "in the nation's service and the service of humanity." While we cannot know Senator Cruz's motivations in entering politics, we can unequivocally state that he is not currently serving the good of the nation. Promulgating lies about the outcome of the presidential election and promoting the disruption of the democratic process is irresponsible. Furthermore, doing so renders him complicit in the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the United States Capitol. Because he has failed both his constituents in Texas and the nation at large, we, Senator Cruz's fellow Princetonians, condemn his actions in challenging the integrity and results of the 2020 presidential election.

NB: This petition is for students and alumni of Princeton University. The Class of 1992, Senator Cruz's class, also has its own class-specific petition, which you may find at https://bit.ly/92petition
