Demanding Release of Dr. Shah Faesal from Arbitrary Detention
Why this petition matters
More than eight months have passed since Dr. Shah Faesal, a torchbearer and youth icon was arbitrarily detained while leaving for his studies at Harvard University, USA. He excelled in MBBS, ranked Number 1 in the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and made it to Harvard Kennedy School. These achievements are just a few among the hundreds of his accomplishments.

The Indian prime Minister hosted Dr Shah Faesal at the Prime minister’s office and said he is the role model for youth.More than 120 Scholars and Academicians from Harvard University have demanded the Indian Prime Minister for his release. However, Dr. Shah Faesal continues to be incarcerated, while the Indian government is releasing other political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is difficult to fathom how they can keep him away in these days of a global pandemic and lock down, while everybody is at home along with their loved ones. Not only can he save lives, as he has the vast following on the ground and social media, but he can be a guide for education and support to his people at this critical time of the Corona virus catastrophe.
Dr. Shah Feasal hasn't changed since he left the most prestigious and distinguished job in the world, where he served people, and he continues to be the most honest, compassionate, brilliant, and selfless. Dr. Shah Faesal believes in peace, justice, and democracy; he is a visionary leader, he can bring good governance, clean politics and corruption-free administration in J&K so that long-lasting peace can be achieved in the state.
Therefore, we demand the Honorable Prime minister and the Home Minister of India to release Dr. Shah Faesal, as his family, followers, and especially his five-year-old son, all need him desperately during this Covid-19 worldwide pandemic which has claimed lives of tens of thousands.
