Srikanth Vellal started this petition to PRIME MINISTERS OFFICE and

Respected Prime Minister Sir,

You have expressed your desire to start palm cultivation in Andaman, Assam and other areas. These are the very few evergreen patches of forest left in india. Coffee and tea estates have already damaged the forest cover over centuries. Now wildlife is occupying human habitats due to loss of their habitats in Assam. With the result humans are at the recieving end today. Andaman is still virgin natural habitat. In reality the forest cover in india is just 3% of land area and the other 20% is degraded due to human intervention and needs. This is what is stated in 2019 forest survey released by Sri.Jawdekar the then environment minister. Rich evergreen forest cover in Indonesia and Malaysia has been swallowed by the monster called palm. Please retreave the forest habitat in 23% land mass of India already in the control of forest department. We are for a sustainable development and never opposed to development which can be done in 26% of land mass unused under the robe of agricultural land. This land can be used for palm cultivation. Please for heaven's sake don't take palm cultivation to evergreen patches.

Regards, Concerned Citizens.
