With the triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, the UK has started the process that will take us out of the EU on 29 March 2019. However, with the possibility of a transition period, there is the probability that the free movement of people will continue for anything between 2-5 years thereby retaining the jurisdiction of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
We therefore call upon the UK government to confirm that in line with the terms of the Lisbon Treaty, the UK will leave the EU by the above date and that the free movement of people will end with effect on that date.
